THE newly-completed  Al-Mubarak Mosque in Bandar Putera here was opened by the Tunku Temenggong Johor, Tunku Idris Iskandar Sultan Ibrahim, during Friday prayers last week.
The prince was among the congregation during the sermon, before he performed his prayers.

The two-storey mosque, which can accommodate more than 1,500 people, was built over two years at the cost of RM3.2 million, said mosque chairman Mohd Yazid Mohd Khail.

"The mosque,  funded by the Federal Government through the state government, is built on two hectares of land. Before its completion, most of its congregation prayed at an old surau in Jalan Cengal, Bandar Putra," he said.

Yazid added that the mosque will hold a religious programme each month, like Quran-reading workshop and mass Quran reading sessions.
